FAQ- Fridges

How do I change the water filter on my Side by Side fridge?

#038;

The water filter is mounted in the plinth grill below the doors. It is removed by turning anti-clockwise about a quarter of a turn and pulling forward. The filter handle is transferred to the new filter, by sliding off, and is refitted by inserting with the handle in the vertical position and rotating clockwise until it stops. The filter must be rotated completely, to open an internal valve, allowing water to flow. Note: you do not need to turn off the water tap to remove the filter.

Why is water leaking from my refrigerator?

#038;

NOTE: The sound of water flowing can easily be misinterpreted as a leaking sound. During the defrost cycle, ice will melt in the freezer compartment and flow down a tube into the drain pan located at the bottom of the refrigerator. This may create a water dripping noise.

Leaking from behind the refrigerator
If water appears to be leaking from the back of the refrigerator, check that the water line from the household water supply to the refrigerator is not damaged or cracked. Check all connections that are accessible such as the connection at the supply valve and the connection point of the supply tubing onto the back of the refrigerator. Check that the tubing is firmly inserted into all fittings and all fittings are tightened.

Leaking from under the door
On exterior dispenser models, if water appears to be leaking from under the refrigerator door, look and feel under the door to ensure the water connection to the dispenser is properly done. Firmly push the water tubes into the fitting.

NOTE: This connection was disconnected if the doors were removed during installation or if the door swing was reversed.

Leaking at the filter
Ensure that the filter is correctly installed.

Why is there dew or sweat accumulating in the refrigerator compartment?

#038;

Light sweating or humidity on interior walls, shelves, bottles, and jars, may occur in the refrigerator compartment. Some moisture in the fresh food area and crispers is normal.

#038;

Sweating/dew in refrigerator compartment
Frequent door openings can cause sweating to occur in the refrigerator compartment. When the door is opened, humid room air enters the refrigerator. The more often the door is opened, the faster the humidity builds. Keeping the door openings to a minimum will help, but may not completely eliminate internal moisture.

#038;

During months of high humidity (especially if a home is not air-conditioned), it is normal for some sweating or humidity to be seen on the interior walls of the fresh food section and on bottles and jars.

#038;

Ensure the air vents between the freezer and refrigerator compartments are not blocked. Objects blocking the vents will cause a decrease in proper air circulation which can cause temperature and moisture problems to occur. Move any items that could be blocking the vents.

#038;

Sweating/dew in the crispers bins
Crispers are designed to hold moisture in order to keep vegetables fresh. If a humidity control is present, adjust the control toward the low end to let moisture out of the crisper.
